COORG

Named as the Scotland of India, Coorg doesn't need any further description. It is a little town in Southern Karnataka, cradled in Western ghats, is one of the best tourist places in India which is also a trekking spot, can be visited throughout the year as the temperature ranges between 15 and 20 degree Celcius. The visit  during the months of  March and April can experience the valley dressed in white flowers.  Coorg is the place which enchants the fragrance of coffee, aroma of black pepper , coorg honey, the holy river Cauvery. With its God gifted beauty, it attracts people from all over the world. The endless mountain ranges , the varied wildlife and the forests rising to the sky gives Coorg its unique character.
     Trekking in Coorg is quite interesting and adventurous too. October to March is the best time for trekking. Pushpagiri, Igguthappa Kundu, Nishanimotte, Thunga Para are some of the trekking places from Madikeri. Shopping in Coorg is another interesting point to be noted. The Friday Market in Madikeri is an excellent place to buy local spices like pepper, nutmeg and cardamom and this market also offers wide variety of coffees, fruits and vegetables.

MY VISIT TO COORG
I have visited  coorg by road and it welcomed me with its greenery and fresh pollution free air.
It was one of the memorable trips with my family. There wide variety of places that can be visited by tourists in and around Madikeri. The Raja's Seat is the place to visit  during sunset and the view from this is place can't be described and it was a pleasant  evening for me. Abbey falls is another beautiful scenery which I visited.  Talacauvery, it is place of origin of the river Cauvery and one of the holy places in Coorg. Omkareshwara temple it is the Hindu temple to the god Shiva with 4 minarets, a dome and fish-filled pond. Tibetean monastry, Bylakuppe, Naalkkunadu Palace, Iruppu falls, Bhagamandala sangam are other famous tourists places and are about 20km-50km from Madikeri.
DUBARE ELEPHANT CAMP is another place where children as well adults can have fun with trained elephants. When it comes to stay in coorg , all budgets accommodation can be found in coorg and all over the district. I felt home stay as a good one than a Hotel, as it enables us to get knowledge about the customs they follow , the traditional food and all about their livelihood.
